To whom it may concern,
Let me start off by saying if you are looking for a unique educational summer experience, LISS is the way to go. One word: Diversity. Diversity was the one of the most impactful parts of this experience for me. Even though I was born in Mexico, raised in Oregon, and have travelled throughout North America, I have never encountered the degree of diversity that came with the LISS program. Around 250 students joined the LISS 2022 program: with students from over 25 different countries. Among the ethnic groups I can think of are those from Mexico, the Ukraine, Russia, Australia, Singapore, Korea, Japan, Thailand, France, the Netherlands, Austria, South Africa, Canada, the United States, India, and a number of other nations.
But just know, there are lots more and with COVID-19 coming to a close, more people from the corners of our world will definitely look into applying to this program just like you. Hopefully at least, I couldn’t recommend it enough; not only is this an amazing academic opportunity, but a lifetime experience as well.
Some folks were traveling for the first time away from home, while others were traveling abroad for the first time. Whatever the case, just know you will not be alone in your journey. While the majority of people think that our world is chaotic because of ongoing conflicts, initiatives like LISS disprove such notions.
